The proposal in this article is for Nassau police officers to stop responding to unregistered alarms. The purpose is to save money on all the times there has been false alarms. They say it will save the people money also because if the police never show up they won’t et fined for unregistered alarms or for the false alarm. 99.4% of the alarms last year were false alarms and wasted hours of on duty Nassau police officers. On the other hand this is their job isn’t it? How can they not respond to unregistered alarms. Does that automatically make it a false alarm. They could be putting peoples lives in more danger over a registration number. Many people don’t even know that tou have to register your alarm. One of Nassau’s own police officers admitted in the article that he didn’t know about the registraion until recently. So because of all these false alarms Nassau is just going to hope that the unregistered ones are all fake now. I think this is wrong and it is putting people in uneccessary danger.
